One of my favorite reasons to cleanse is to put a stop to cravings and wipe the palate clean. Since I’ve had a cold for the last three weeks I decided to do a light cleanse to get back on track. I’m having green, alkaline, juices/smoothies for breakfast and during the day. For dinner I’ll eat vegetables, quinoa, brown rice and white meats. I’ll have 1-2 whole grain rice cakes with nut spread or avocado, nuts or home made raw bars for snacks or if I get cravings  I’ll also make sure to drink 2-3 liters of water and herbal tea during the day.

Foods to avoid during a cleanse:

  • added sugar
  • gluten
  • dairy products
  • caffein
  • alcohol
  • red meat

My favorite green juice? 

  • 2 kale leaves
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1/2 apple
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • water

Blend all ingredients for 35 seconds in a blender. This is the green juice you’ll want to drink at any time when you want to feel hydrated and full of energy!

Kale: A leafy green that is loaded with iron, Vitamin K, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium, and antioxidants. It also helps to detoxify the liver because it’s high in sulfur.

Celery: Celery lowers blood pressure, aids digestion and regulates the body’s alkaline balance.

Apple: Apples help prevent gallstones, support the liver, and help boost the immune system.

Lemon: Loaded with Vitamin C, lemons support a healthy immune system and help the liver to detoxify.

Cucumber: Being a great source of electrolytes, eating cucumber will help the body become re-hydrated and provide you with a source of B Vitamins.
