Healthy tip: lemon water

Warm lemon water is something that I usually start my mornings with. I squeeze the juice of half a lemon in a mug of hot water and drink it before breakfast.

Today I’ll continue drinking warm lemon water during the day since I woke up with a swollen throat this morning. I suspect that it might have something to do with my amazing weekend in Paris with late nights and a little bit too much indulgence. Oh well, lemon juice to the rescue!

Here are a few more reasons to drink warm lemon water:

Strengthens the immune system: Lemons are high in vitamin C and will boost the immune system, helping us get through the cold months sick free.

pH balance: Outside the body, lemon juice is acidic (pH below 7).  Inside the body however, when the lemon juice has been fully metabolized and its minerals are dissociated in the bloodstream, its effect is alkalizing and therefore raises the pH of the blood. This can be very beneficial, especially in terms of digestive issues.

Digestive boost: Lemon juice helps to cleanse the body and encourages the liver to produce bile, which is needed for digestion.

Pretty Skin: Lemon juice helps to maintain a glowing, healthy skin.
